New Favorite Picture...EVER!

Winter TOAST!!!

So exciting...the Winter TOAST catalouge is out! This makes my day. The images and layout are AMAZING! I have yet to order anything from them, but not for lack of trying! My husband seems to think the exchange rate is a problem...doesn't he know you can't put a price on fashion??!! His new favorite saying when I ask for something is "When you get a job."  Obviously he is kidding, but I am taking this to heart, the second I get a job this girl is going shopping...like huge shopping! Here are a few of my favorites...honestly order the catalouge if you don't get it...I have never thrown one away. They all live in my studio, whenever I am stuck on a project they always seem to inspire me!

Bloggn' while Tipsy...

It has been awhile...I got sick of blogging for awhile, but I am back! School for me equals little to no time to do anything besides homework. While it is design homework it is still overwhelming because well, thats just what school is. I have been on photoshop ALL DAY and have eaten very little. As my reward I poured myself a very nice glass of Cab. Due to the lack of food I am now quite tipsy off one glass of wine, which is quite disappointing considering it really is a nice bottle and I would like to have some more! So, back to life....school is going great but I am a little stressed with the amount of work I have signed up for. I LOVE my senior project idea, a community based school of the arts, but REALLY, I decided to design a full school! What was I thinking!??? To top it off Nick and I are hoping to attend his cousin Phil's wedding in Australlia in November, 2 weeks before my senior project, portfolio, and graduation are. Talk about stress! On a lighter note, I made an amazing pizza last night. Not to toot my own horn, but it was sooooo yummy! It was a modified recipe from the Food Network Magazine. Amazingly enough, Nick and I ate the entire thing by ourselves...

This is what I was working on all day...it is a project from over a year ago that I just rendered in photoshop for my portfolio...I am not quite finished, but almost....

Wtih that said...I am off to have just a little bit more wine.....

Graduation Dress Contender Number 1

I don't like the way they styled this, but saw the dress in the store and LOVED it! I think it would be perfect if I had it shortened to the knee and wore it with a skinny black belt and red heels!

Distractions

So my Mom and I got distracted on some outdoor projects and haven't got to sewing yet. On the bright side my husband and I whipped out our old fabulous camera that was a hand me down from his brother(who is an awesome photographer by night, real estate agent by day). I am SO excited to get to play around with it again. Here are some pics from today.

This is the good ol' trusty sewing machine my Mom and I will be using! I love it, it is in its own cabinet...I am trying to convince her to paint it a fun color!

Creative Juices are a flowin'....

So, I am back in school for my last semester!!!! (I am totally not counting the two GE classes I still have to take...pretending they do not exist!) Due to school starting my Blogging has come to a cease fire...but hopefully not for long. I am feeling so inspired and creative right now. I have so many ideas that I can't even keep up with myself! I LOVE when this happens. I never know when it is going to happen or how long it will last but I try to savor every last second of it when it is with me.

For my senior project I am going to be designing a High School of the Arts that also focuses on Vocational studies. I am SO into this project. One, because I love the design process and two, because I am so passionate about giving children the opportunities to discover their talents. Today our schools are so focused on testing that I feel they have lost the ability to really teach kids the importance of self discovery. I do believe in education, but I also believe the youth should be given the opportunity to learn other skills. Anyways enough with that, I am so excited to start designing this school! This is a picture of the Watson School for the Arts...I love this building. It is my first inspirational photo for this project.

Some other exciting news...my Mom and I have been sewing our little heads off! I have learned so much from her and am so lucky to have such a talented patient Mom to help me learn. We have also been brainstorming some really fun ideas. I won't go into them yet, but I think we are going to start selling some things on Etsy. If you don't know what Etsy is you are really missing out. It is an online community that allows people to sell their homemade goods. It has everything from clothes to art, and furniture. You should all check it out! I am off to go sew some more. Hopefully I will have some fun pictures of our napkins to show you soon! Have a great weekend!

Love at First Sight

I am usually not a J.Crew kind of girl, but after catching a glimpse of the new cover on my Mom's coffee table...I fell in love, madly in love to be precise. The cover image reminds me of all the TOAST catalogues I hold so dear. The cover image actually made it up on my Inspiration wall. Here are a few of my favorite new obsessions.

Yeah!

I just went outside to water the garden, it is really hot here, at least for San Diego, and found my first cucumber of the season!!!! It is late, but my first round of cucumbers didn't take of due to the cloudy months of May and June, so I planted new plants about a month ago. I am so excited to finally have a crop of yummy cucumbers, they are mine and my husbands favorite! I am also posting a picture of my swiss chard, how am I going to eat all of this?

Well Hello There...

As the end of summer draws near and I await planting my winter crops I have decided to focus my attention on learning to sew. It has been something I have always wanted to learn. The independence of being able to sew your own things has always seemed so freeing to me. My Mom bought me Heather Ross's "Weekend Sewing" for my birthday, which can be bought from http://www.purlsoho.com/purl. The book is full of amazing pictures and ideas. I also totally recommend going to their blog http://www.purlbee.com/ for all the wonderful and inspirational images. For my first attempt I am going to sew cloth napkins, don't all girls need cute cloth napkins! My Mom also bought me the fabric for the napkins which is in the picture below. I am armed and ready with one of my Granny's many sewing kits. Wish me luck!

P.S. I promise to attempt to make my images better by using an actual camera...my I-Phone just always seems to be so much easier!
